Azalea Health has named Arman Samani chief executive, effective October 5, and co-founder Baha Zeidan, who ran the Atlanta company for 18 years, has become chief strategy officer, Azalea said on October 28. The company sells electronic health records, practice management, and revenue cycle management software to smaller hospitals and practices.

The new Azalea Health CEO, who has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare technology, most recently ran Net Health's therapy division. Zeidan stays on Azalea's board and, as chief strategy officer, leads mergers and acquisitions and key client and partner relationships, according to the company's leadership page.

Samani's record

AdvancedMD, then owned by ADP (Nasdaq: ADP), named Samani chief technology officer in December 2014, after product and engineering roles at MEDHOST, 3M (NYSE: MMM), Medicity, and Allscripts. Azalea said he also served as AdvancedMD's chief operating officer. He joined PatientPop as chief product officer in October 2020, PatientPop said at the time, and Azalea also lists senior positions at Tebra among his earlier roles. Net Health's website lists him as president of its therapy division.

"Arman brings a depth of healthcare technology experience and a strong understanding of the challenges our clients face," said Zeidan.

Why now

Zeidan co-founded Azalea in 2008 with Douglas Swords. The company says its software now serves more than 7,000 providers and 22 million patients in rural and community healthcare, including critical access hospitals and rural emergency hospitals. Under Samani, Azalea said, it plans to grow its presence in the market and keep investing in AI features and in software that ties clinical work to billing.

Growth investor LLR Partners has backed Azalea since February 2021 and still lists it as an active portfolio company. When it invested, LLR said the capital would help Azalea invest in its products, keep growing, and explore acquisitions. The leadership page now puts acquisitions under Zeidan.
