Filevine, which sells case management software to law firms, introduced LOIS Voice Agents on October 27: AI agents that pick up a firm's incoming calls, run intake with the firm's approved questions, and route callers by the reason they give, according to Filevine's announcement. The product is in beta, Filevine said, and the announcement sends firms to the LOIS Voice Agents page to ask about joining; the page itself does not mention a beta and offers demo bookings. Filevine has not published a price.

The agent matches what a caller says to categories the firm defines, so "I was hurt" can start a motor vehicle accident intake, and then asks the questions tied to that category, Filevine said. Once a call ends, the software transcribes and summarizes the recording and pulls out details such as dates of birth, incident dates, police report numbers, and insurance carriers. A call is attached to a lead automatically when the match clears a confidence threshold the firm sets; below it, the call waits in a review queue for staff.

Filevine's case against answering services is about where the call ends up. Michael Anderson, Filevine's chief product officer, said: "Email, texts and documents have lived in firms' systems for years, but calls haven't." Outside services already connect to Filevine: Smith.ai said in 2022 that its receptionists' calls appear in a Filevine project's activity feed. LOIS Voice Agents moves the answering inside Filevine, where the agent reads case data and logs new leads in Lead Docket, Filevine's intake product, according to the product page.

Filevine has not said how many firms are in the beta or when it will be generally available. The product page also promises appointment booking and answers to existing clients' routine questions from their case data; the announcement does not say which features the beta includes.
