About SaasBuzz

Who we write for, what we publish and what we leave out, how we check it, and how SaasBuzz makes money.

SaasBuzz covers the business of software for the people who build it, buy it and invest in it: founders and operators, the teams choosing what their company runs on, and the investors and analysts who price it.

What we publish

Fewer pieces, each one worth reading. Software companies announce something every hour, and most of it is already told well by the company itself. We write when we can add something: a number nobody else worked out, a comparison with the deals or results that came before, what a filing says that the press release left out, and the question a reader still has after the headline.

Every piece takes a position. We say what we think the news means, who it helps and who it hurts, and we show the evidence for it, so you can disagree with us on the facts. Where we are making a judgment rather than reporting a fact, we say so.

We cover funding, acquisitions and IPOs, quarterly results, launches and pricing, the people running software companies, and the rules and markets around them.

How we check what we publish

  • We work from primary sources: filings, results releases, earnings calls, the company's own pages, court and regulatory documents. We link them.
  • We redo every calculation ourselves before it appears in a piece.
  • When another outlet broke a story, we name it and link to it at the top.
  • We correct mistakes in the piece itself, with the date of the correction.

The full rules are in our editorial policy.

How we make money

SaasBuzz makes its money from advertising and, on our best-software comparisons, from vendors who buy a position on the list. A bought position always carries a visible Sponsored label next to the vendor's name. Nobody pays for news coverage, for a story to be changed or left out, or to read a piece before it is published. The editorial policy explains exactly what a Sponsored label means.
