Protectt.ai, an Indian mobile app security company backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, has taken a majority stake in AIShield, the AI security platform incubated inside Bosch Global Software Technologies (BGSW), according to a release Protectt.ai published on October 27. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The deal turns a corporate incubation project into a standalone company. AIShield will operate as AIShield Private Limited (AISW) under Protectt.ai, and Bosch will keep a minority stake, Inc42 reported. Inc42 also reported that it is Protectt.ai's first acquisition.

What changes hands

Protectt.ai bought in two ways at once, according to its release: it subscribed to newly issued AIShield shares and bought shares from existing investors. The new shares put fresh money into AIShield, which the release says will fund research and development, international expansion and work on what Protectt.ai calls "sovereign AI security," meaning tools for companies that want control over where their AI systems, data and workloads sit and how they are governed.

Neither company has given a price or a stake percentage. Manish Mimani, Protectt.ai's founder and CEO, told Inc42 that "the current structure is a combination of cash and ESOPs" and that future investments "will depend on the requirements of the business." Inc42 reported that the timeline was not disclosed.

What AIShield sells

AIShield's software tests and protects AI systems from development through production. The release lists AI security assessment, red teaming (attacking a model on purpose to find its weaknesses), runtime protection and safety guardrails, and says the product addresses risks such as prompt injection, where crafted input makes a model ignore its instructions. AIShield has more than 40 patent filings, including 11 granted patent families, and customers in Europe and the Middle East, the release says. Inc42 reported that Shiv Kumar and Amit Phadke founded it inside BGSW in 2022.

Protectt.ai's own business is mobile app security for banks, insurers, fintechs and government platforms. The company says in its release that it protects more than 900 million devices and handles over 10 billion sessions a month, or about 11 sessions per device per month by SaasBuzz's arithmetic on those two claims.

Why Protectt.ai wants it

Mimani framed the deal as following banks' AI projects into production, and said Bosch stays on as a partner.

Together, Protectt.ai and Bosch aim to build India's first full-stack AI security platform, covering AI for Security, Security for AI and Sovereign AI Security…Manish Mimani, founder and CEO of Protectt.ai, in the company's release, October 27, 2026

The release says Protectt.ai will sell AIShield's products through its existing relationships in regulated industries, especially banking, financial services and insurance, and take AIShield into Asian markets. Vishal Gupta, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, said in the release that the deal shows "Indian startups can create sufficient scale, credibility and market leadership to become preferred partners for global technology assets," and that he expects "more such transactions." Inc42 reported that Protectt.ai set up an M&A team earlier in 2026, that Mimani said it is evaluating opportunities, and that it would look at raising new funding in 2027.

How it compares with other AI security deals

What it means for AI security buyers

The structure is the difference. Protect AI's chief executive said its capabilities would be integrated into Palo Alto Networks' Prisma AIRS platform, and F5 said it was buying all of CalypsoAI's shares and integrating its products into F5's own platform. Protectt.ai, a private startup, is instead keeping AIShield as a separate company with a corporate seller still on its share register. Inc42 reported that AIShield will be able to raise outside funding of its own.

For AIShield's customers in Europe and the Middle East, the counterparty is now a Protectt.ai-controlled company rather than a unit of a Bosch subsidiary. Neither company has said publicly what changes for existing contracts or support. Buyers comparing AI security vendors now have one more option tied to a mobile app security platform, alongside offerings from Palo Alto Networks, F5 and Check Point.
